Tim has been restoring furniture professionally for over 30 years and is a fully accredited member of BAFRA (British Antique Furniture Restorers' Association). Tim gets great satisfaction from bringing back beauty to neglected furniture and enjoys sharing the pleasure it gives his clients, whether they be institutions, museums, dealers or private customers.

Tim also enjoys sourcing wonderfully original pieces on behalf of his clients and sympathetically restoring them for their homes.

Louise is our paper conservation expert: conserving watercolours, engravings, chalks, drawings, maps and book collections. She runs a studio in Northamptonshire with her partner Ian Beaumont, a leather restorer/conservator. Louise's vast range of clients include the National Trust, English Heritage, museums, galleries and private collectors, and she has worked on many projects abroad, including work for the Museum of Art and History in Bucharest, the Seminario Barbarigo in Montefiascone, Italy and a manuscripts conservation project for The Levantine Foundation in the Wadi Natrun Desert, Egypt. With over 20 years' experience she is a fully Accredited Conservator of ICON (Institute of Conservation).

A multi-talented restorer, Malcolm has been restoring clocks and furniture professionally now for nearly 35 years, and is our resident clocks expert. Malcolm is a fully affiliated member of BAFRA. Malcolm has been asked to undertake restoration of some very important antique clocks and furniture for private individuals as for private collections and stately homes. His knowledge on antiques and restoration has allowed him to work for insurance companies and solicitors using his valuing skills. Though mostly to be found in his workshop, he has also found time to teach and lecture at colleges and institutions.

Roger Hawkins is the Roadshow's ceramics guru. Starting in the antiques trade in 1973, and embarking on a 2 year apprenticeship with a porcelain restorer, he has now been restoring pottery and porcelain full time for 25 years. For many years Roger lectured across the UK and USA, and many of his students are now professional restorers themselves; his courses are now available on DVD. He currently has a successful workshop in Nottinghamshire.

 

LUCIA SCALISI

Lucia is an expert on painting restoration: a Accredited Conservator of the Institute of Conservation (ICON) and Fellow of the International Institute of Conservation (FIIC), with a degree from Sheffield University and Diploma in Conservation from Newcastle. For 12 years, she was a Conservator of Paintings at the V&A in London. Now in private practice, she has worked across the world - notably for many years on a conservation project in Calcutta, and at the Academy of Conservation in Tbilisi, Georgia, as well as teaching and training in developing countries. She currently teaches at the City and Guilds of London Art School in Kennington and works in her own studio in London.

Rodrigo Titian first learnt the art of gilding at the age of 14 at his father's workshop in Notting Hill. After an apprenticeship, and four-year study at the London College of Furniture, he took over his family restoration business at the age of 24. Rod co-wrote a book on gilding and lacquering with his wife Rosaria in 1991. His work can be seen at the Queen's House, Greenwich, Kew Palace, St Clement Danes Church in the Strand, and he also has a large variety of clients ranging from top antique dealers to private individuals. Rod is also a fully accredited member of BAFRA.
